After this amazing stretch of warm weather, the weekend dips back to the 50s. A bummer, but at least there's no shortage of stuff to do — a parade, an egg hunt, a working farm, and a storytime for the littles.

Sunday · 11 AM
Market Street (16th to 5th) · Center City · · All ages
🟡Free · Dress in green · Street parking tough on parade day — take SEPTA or park a few blocks off Market
The Philly St. Patrick's Day Parade runs down Market Street from 16th to 5th starting at 11 AM — marching bands, pipe bands, the whole thing. It's one of those city events that's been going forever but somehow flies under the radar if you don't have it on your calendar. Grab a spot anywhere along Market — it's free and you don't need to sign up for anything.

Craft Hall · North Philadelphia · 1–5 PM Sunday
After the parade, walk to Craft Hall for their post-parade party. For $10 your kid gets a pizza kit — crust, sauce, cheese, toppings — builds it at the table, and the kitchen bakes it and brings it back hot. Free coloring sheets and crafts too, plus an off-leash dog park if you brought the whole crew.

Burke Playground · Pennsport · · All ages
🟢Free · Just show up · Easy street parking on Philip St · Rain date March 21
A neighborhood egg hunt organized by local neighbors (not a corporation, not a brand — actual neighbors). Easter Bunny photos, face painting, Celebre's pizza, and activities. It's at Burke Playground at 2nd & Philip in Pennsport. Easy street parking, totally free, and the kind of community thing that makes you glad you live in this city. Rain date is March 21 if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Sunday · 11 AM
Barnes & Noble · Center City West · · Ages 3+
🟢Free · No signup · Stroller parking available · Upstairs in the kids' section
Author Jaylene Clark Owens is reading her picture book A Black Girl and Her Braids at the Chestnut Street Barnes & Noble. No registration, just show up. It's upstairs in the children's department, so if your kid loses interest you're already surrounded by books. A low-key Sunday morning that gets you out the door without a plan.

Saturday · 10 AM – 3 PM
Fox Chase Farm · Fox Chase · · All ages
🟡It's a hike from Center City — budget 30+ min drive · Free parking on site · Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy
Fox Chase Farm is one of the last working farms inside city limits, and most Philly parents have no idea it exists. For National Agriculture Month they're opening the gates for a full day — farm animals, educational demos, live music, and an artisan market with 25+ vendors including our friends and one of our favorite local vendors, Guilty Good Pastries — if you haven't tried their K-Pie yet, fix that. It's a hand pie with kimchi stew, cheesy bulgogi, and a crispy American-style crust. Trust us on this one. The farm is up in the far Northeast off Pine Road, so yes it's a drive, but there's free parking and the vibe is completely different from anything else on this list.

Drop-in design studio for kids and families · All ages · Wed–Fri afternoons + special Saturday sessions
Erike has been a Tinyjawns champion since the early days — a long-time supporter who became a close friend and helped shape Tinyjawns into what it is today. She started Design Gym because she wanted every kid to see themselves as a designer, not just the ones who end up at art school. The studio at Colorspace Labs runs everything from storytime-meets-design-workshop combos to open gym hours where kids just show up and build stuff. They work through real design disciplines — architecture, fashion, graphic design, textiles — scaled for any age. 1714 N. Mascher if you want to walk in and see what it's about. Tell Erike Tiny sent you.
