The Oval Minifest opens with the 6th annual Hip-Hop In The Park Festival, a free all-day takeover of Eakins Oval at the foot of the Art Museum steps. DJ AKTIVE headlines, joined by Craig G and Truck North. Graffiti writers from Philly, New York and Florida paint the Oval wall to wall over the course of the day, breakers hold exhibitions on the pavement, and Virginia-based One Take Studios brings a dance showcase built around hip-hop choreography. There is a vendor marketplace, food trucks, a three-point contest from No Phly Zone, and community organizations set up across the grounds. It is free and open to the public. Two more free Oval Minifest Saturdays follow on August 15 and August 22.
