More details
Reading Terminal Market closes the 1100 block of Filbert Street on Saturday, August 15 for its annual Ice Cream Festival, and the whole thing is free to walk into. Seven outside vendors scoop along Filbert (Bassetts, Milk Jawn, Cloud Cups Gelato, Hangry Bear Creamery, Irv's, The Mango Hut and Tubby Robot), while market stalls run ice cream sandwiches and other festival specials, marked with balloons. For kids there is face painting, balloon twisting, coloring pages, sand art necklaces, an ice cream truck photo-op and a chance to meet Philbert, the market mascot. Adults get eating contests and a Mystery Sundae Building Championship. Best of all on an August afternoon: the outdoor block is under cover, and it runs rain or shine.
