The American Swedish Historical Museum, a 1920s landmark at the edge of FDR Park, throws its annual Midsommarfest to mark the summer solstice the Swedish way. The afternoon centers on raising the maypole and dancing around it, with live folk music from the Last Chance duo, flower crowns to wear, and smorgastarta (a savory Swedish sandwich cake) to sample. Kids can try Kubb and other lawn games on the grounds, and admission includes the museum's centennial exhibitions. Flower crowns, food, and drinks are available for purchase.
