The Philadelphia Caribbean Festival turns 40 in 2026, and it is still free to walk into. Eight hours of live performances from local and international Caribbean artists take over Cherry Street Pier on Sunday, August 16, spanning reggae, roots, soca, steel band and jazz, alongside a marketplace of island food, Caribbean fashion and jewelry. Younger kids get the Caribbean Children's Village, with face painting, bead-making, balloon animals and beanbag games. The pier is covered, which matters on a hot or unsettled August afternoon, and the festival doubles as a scholarship fundraiser for students of Caribbean descent. Come hungry and plan on the food being the main event.
