The Spruce Hill May Fair turns 68 this year and lives in the lower half of Clark Park. 40+ artisan and community vendors, a petting zoo, a bounce house, and free kids games and face painting. Five live acts roll through the day (Ants on a Log, the Settlement Music School Jazz Ensemble, Mad Beatz Philly, plus two more). Six food trucks: Philly classics, halal, Thai, Mexican, BBQ, handmade popsicles. Stroller-friendly, and the park is spread out enough that the crowds aren't overwhelming.

Walk up to Bartram's dock between 10 and 2 and you can paddle a kayak or rowboat on the Tidal Schuylkill, free. Equipment, life jackets, and a basic intro are all included. Kids ride with an adult, all skill levels welcome. River conditions can cancel it, so peek at Bartram's morning-of.

The Bicycle Coalition runs free walk-up bike and helmet rentals from the Bike Container right next to the dock, kids and adults welcome. Ride the Bartram's Mile Trail along the Schuylkill. Bring your own bike and they'll do flats, chain, and brake fixes for free.

Sunset Social's rooftop at 30th and Walnut runs a Mother's Day afternoon Sunday from noon to 3. Crafts, a dance floor, massages, caricatures, plus coffee, pastries, and mimosas. There's a dedicated keepsake craft table for kids to make something for mom (the actual reason you're there). Tickets start at $5 plus fees on Eventbrite.
