University City District opens the 2026 Movies in Clark Park season with A League of Their Own, the 1992 comedy about the first women's professional baseball league, starring Geena Davis, Tom Hanks and Rosie O'Donnell. The screening happens in the Clark Park bowl, the natural grass amphitheater at 43rd and Chester, where neighbors start spreading out blankets around 6:30 and the film starts once it is properly dark, closer to 8:20. It is free with no ticket, and chairs, blankets and picnics are encouraged. Food vendors set up nearby and the Baltimore Avenue restaurants are a short walk. This year's four films were picked by community vote around the theme of freedom.
