The Bike Race Is Back, a 300-Drone Show, and Free Bookbags
First week of school is behind you. The weather finally cooperates, high 80s and sunny both days, and on Sunday half the city closes down for a bike race we have not had since 2016. Which is why Saturday is so stacked: with the Parkway, Kelly Drive and most of Manayunk shut from before dawn, everything else in town moved to the day before.

The Philadelphia Cycling Classic has not run since 2016. Sunday it comes back, on the original 14.4-mile loop: out of Logan Circle, along Kelly Drive past Boathouse Row, then up into Manayunk. The part to take a kid to is the Manayunk Wall on Lyceum Avenue, a 17 percent grade where you stand close enough to hear the riders breathing, with Main Street below it doing its block-party thing. The women go off at 8:30, the men at noon and finish around 5. There is also a free Fan Fest on the Parkway both Saturday and Sunday: bike demos, mini-bike courses for kids, 150-odd vendors, and a musette bag for the first 2,000 through the gate.

Music in the Park

Manu playing in the park while kids run around, food on site and a Lost Time Brewing pop-up for the grown-ups. Free to walk in, pay as you go if you want anything.
